Chinese restaurants in the United States range from steam-table lunch counters to white-tablecloth Cantonese seafood halls, and most fall somewhere in between: a laminated menu, a lunch special board, and combo plates priced a few dollars below the dinner menu. Ordering by number off the menu is normal and speeds things up, especially at takeout counters. Family-style ordering, where a table shares several dishes with rice rather than each person getting an individual entree, is standard at sit-down spots and usually cheaper per person. Many neighborhood restaurants are cash-preferred or charge a small card fee, so it is worth asking or checking the door before you order. Delivery apps cover most areas, but calling the restaurant directly is often faster and avoids the markup.
Hours are published for 7 days a week. Typical hours are 11 amβ8 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. Fremont is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. Getting around Fremont is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across California's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

I live nearby and had never tried The Smoking Pig BBQ, so my wife and I decided to give it a chance. Unfortunately, it was a bit underwhelming for us. The meat and hot link were sweeter than expected and lacked the smoky, savory flavor we usually look for in barbecue. The BBQ beans were also on the sweeter side (I was expecting a chili-like taste), and while the cornbread was decent, I have definitely had better. I have had barbecue in Texas, and compared to that, this just did not hit the mark for me. That being said, I am not trying to hate on the restaurant. I understand everyone has different tastes, and some people may really enjoy their style of BBQ. It just was not for me or my family. Service was 10/10 though!

I recently visited Smoking Pig BBQ, and I had an absolutely outstanding dining experience that I would highly recommend to any barbecue lover. From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed by a warm, rustic, and inviting atmosphere that immediately set the tone for a great meal. The restaurant has a classic BBQ feel with a cozy and comfortable setting that makes it perfect for family gatherings, casual meals, or weekend dining. The food at Smoking Pig BBQ was exceptional. Every dish was packed with rich, smoky flavor and clearly prepared with care and experience. The meats were tender, juicy, and perfectly cooked, with just the right amount of seasoning and smoke. The barbecue sauces added an extra layer of flavor without overpowering the natural taste of the meat. I especially enjoyed the variety on the menu, which offered something for everyone, from hearty smoked meats to delicious sides that complemented the main dishes perfectly. The customer service was another highlight of my visit. The staff members were friendly, attentive, and very welcoming throughout the entire experience. They made helpful recommendations, ensured that everything was served hot and fresh, and checked in

Very good bbq includes the infamous wolf turds. Large tender chicken quarter with 4 flavors of dipping sauce. Huge brisket salad. Prefer slightly fatty chopped brisket for flavor.. Family friendly.

Came in on a Monday for a late work lunch. Ordered the BBQ pork sandwich and bbq baked beans. I am from GA and raised in the south, so always a little skeptical of BBQ in CA. The pork was tender and plentiful on the sandwich. It had a little sauce with it and I did add more of the original sweet sauce from the table. The bun was slightly toasted/warm and over all it was a good sandwich. The beans had nice chunks of meat in it, not sure if it was pork or brisket as they were small and covered in sauce from the beans. The sauce was a little on the sweet side but not over powering. Very solid beans which are a must have side dish for me at a BBQ location. Customer service was very good as well, overall a very good experience at this location and would come again.
